Pitch Training for the Electric Guitar

Pitch training has helped me immensely in my quest to learn the electric guitar. One of the things that took me a long time to do, was learn every note on the fretboard. It was a long, repetitive, boring process, but I did it, and I can now name every note. If I had done some ear training beforehand, this process would not have taken so long.

Through my learning process, as I've described elsewhere on my site, I've literally gone through hundreds of books, many, or I should say most, are garbage. I have my two favorite books on the site, one of which is "The Idiots Guide to Music Theory" .

The idiots guide contains a CD on ear training that's pretty good, but I wanted something more. I came across this lesson called Pure Pitch ,and I'm about two weeks into the 40 day lesson. This lesson is truly all it's cracked up to be. It's unfortunate how some of these products try and oversell you, and this lesson is no different, so if you click on the link your going to see a lot of hyperbole. The deal though, is these lessons really work. I'm able to recognize notes, intervals, and a few obscure chords by ear. The course is a little pricey, but you have two months to return it if it doesn't work. I figured I had nothing to lose, give Pure Pitch a try.
