Mraf KC Washburn

Original Washburn KC-70 Body

Original Washburn KC-70 Body

Last year I purchased a Washburn KC-70 body on eBay. It was a gaudy metallic pink color, but was still a classy body. It seemed a steal at the $35 price tag.
The idea is to rebuild it with all new electronics and hardware, as well as a new neck, which proved harder to find than I originally thought. I ended up purchasing a fully working Washburn KC-20 on eBay, which is almost identical, all so I could salvage the neck for a perfect fit. I resold the left over body and some components to build funds for the Floyd Rose Tremolo I need for the guitar.
At this point, I have completely removed the metallic pink color, sanded it down, and it is ready for a new fresh coat, which is where the original ideas come in. My brother is an artist of a different mold and was very excited when I asked him to paint an original piece on the body of the guitar. He has a very interesting, Paul Klee inspired, piece all ready for it, we just need to work out purchasing the paints.
Once that is complete, I will install pickups and hardware. The pickups will be from Guitar Fetish, and the hardware from a smattering of other places (it's all about who has the best prices).
We already have a buyer as well, so the money should fund new projects and new tools to continue this new hobby of mine.

To see some of his artwork, you can check out his website, mraf.com
To see a photo album of the progress of the guitar, check out my website at this URL: http://web.me.com/tdbuller/Luthier/Welcome.html

I will be sure to bring an update with photo when it is completed.
